Shine Your Light

I've been photographing a lot of headshots lately {as you might have noticed} and really embracing the challenge of trying to deliver for my clients and myself, something more than just a pretty smile to put on a comp card or a press release.   I feel my true strengths as a photographer are more documentary in nature, so when called upon to capture a more formal portrait, I try to channel my inherent interest in people and the human condition, to better help them draw out their own inner light.

But Budha I am not, so sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I'm not sure a casting director or magazine will ever see these images, but I'm drawn to them because they were taken during a time in our photoshoot when the mask came down, and it was less about creating that stock image than capturing the essence of everything I know about this incredible young soul.
